AI helps weather forecasters predict the weather more accurately

(Jan. 2024) Weather affects everyone, whether you’re planning a trip to the beach, or planting crops for next year’s harvest. 

New advances in artificial intelligence can help produce more accurate forecasts – the topic of this Transform Talks interview with Professor Dr Florian Pappenberger, Deputy Director-General at the European Center for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts. 

In a talk with Huawei Editor-in-Chief Gavin Allen, Professor Pappenberger says machine learning has a huge advantage over traditional forecasting methods – but adds that the flawless weather forecast remains an impossible dream.
